Matt's Team Photo -SCW Basketball

Wednesday evening we went to Troy High School to watch the St. Charles West Warriors play Moberly in the state regionals (I think). It was one of the best high school basketball games I have ever seen. With about 2 seconds on the clock K. Soderberg shot a three pointer that gave SCW the victory 64-63. That leads us to more basketball this Saturday as SCW will play Berkley for the chance to head to the state semi-finals. Seems like all plans for the next week have a contingency for basketball!

That same Wednesday of the big win Colton and Kyle had a sobering experience. Drew Weaver, the Marine recently killed, was a grad of SCW. He graduated in 2005 which was Colt's freshman year. The students, who wanted to participate, lined Zumbehl road and waved flags as the hearse passed by. There was to be a reception at the high school today.

Matt is in the center of the picture.

It's all about Basketball!

Matt is playing for a new team - it is a select travel team called Champaign's Finest. He is modeling his new uniform and the back of his new shirt! They are 3-1 and Matt is enjoying the new level of competition.
Eric's game last Saturday was cancelled due to the districts being played in the gym where he plays but we will be off to see him on Saturday.
Wednesday will find us on the road to Troy, MO. St Charles West is playing in the regionals (I think that is what they are called) against Moberly. We are rooting for SCW to go all the way to state! SCW has an incredible team and their fan/student support is unreal. Go Warriors!

Jake gets ready for Ski Trip!

Last weekend Jake went skiing in Wisconsin. He purchased his outfit off of e-bay. I think I will just let the pics his Mother sent speak for themselves!

Warm Sand, Ocean Breezes, Hot Sun

Wish you were there so do we! This was taken in 2006 at Surfside Beach, SC. It is icy, snowy and cold here in STL. The Henley boys already know they are off school again on Friday. Bundle Up and Be Careful if you are in the STL Area!

Oh So Sweet!

The finished product - Grannie O's sugar cookies. Don't know how it all works from heaven but I sure hope Grannie O can look down on us and know how much we all loved her. We had her with us the longest and she is the only great grandparent the boys really knew. Grannie O always recited the 23rd Psalms before she went to bed and last week we read it together in worship on Sunday. I know she must have been grinning from ear to ear.

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day - Nancy

Each year I make heart sugar cookies for Valentine's day ! These are made from my Grannie O's sugar cookie and icing recipe. We always looked forward to her sugar cookies at Christmas. Grannie O would bake all kinds of shapes and then ice them in red, green and white. She never failed to have a box of them for our family to bring back home. I got busy and baked the cookies and now it is time to "ice" them. Below is a picture of a few ready to bake (these won't get iced). I make these at Halloween and Christmas - sometimes even St. Patrick's Day.
This is a picture of Grannie O on her 90th birthday. Grannie went home to the Lord on 6/17/06 at the age of 92. Grannie O was Carolyn's mother.

"Have a Heart Pancake Breakfast"

Sunday, February 3rd, Maryland Heights had a "We have a Heart for our Community" pancake/sausage breakfast. Admission was a bag of groceries, per family, that went to Community Helping Ministries (CHM). CHM serves families in need in the area. Carolyn serves on their board and volunteers there once a week.

Oh Snow Beautiful - Nancy

Looking up the street from our house. Beautiful magnolia tree in neighbor's yard.
The front of our house - there was about 8 inches of snow. The highlight for all my nephews is none of them had school. Remember how much fun a snow day was?

Basketball Update - Matt and Eric

The 7th grade Monticello Sages basketball team finished their season on Thursday night with a 23-1 record. Thursday night, in state sectionals, they lost by one point to a team from Champaign. Matt had an awesome game. He was disappointed that they lost (they are a 3A school having to play in 4A) but it was a great season. Mom, Dad and Nancy were able to be there for the game. Matt's 1st grade teacher was even there cheering the team on . .see photo. TONIGHT we get to go watch Eric playing YMCA basketball. He has two games - Go Eric!
