A Special Tribute to a Special Guy in a Special Place!

Last Sunday we were at Camp Ne-O-Tez cleaning and getting ready for summer camp. Dad was surprised by a special plaque that Steve Jones wrote and had made to put up at camp. This was part of the tribute from last year for Marlin.

Birthday Pics - Jake and Matt

Lori sent me a few pics of Jake and Matt's birthday celebrations! Jake is in Canada now and Matt is finishing up his last week of 8th grade.

Jake was 19 on May 5th.

Matthew was 14 on May 15th.

Jake and Kelsey during a visit home to Monticello (in May). Lori and Rod don't live on a lake but they have had so much rain that the field behind their home has flooded once again.

Happy Birthday Jake! Jake is 19 years old today and finishing his freshman year at Northern Illinois University. He has had an outstanding freshman year. He is heading to Canada for several weeks with an academic group from NIU next week. Enjoy your birthday Jacob!

Run-n-Slam Basketball Tourney

Friday evening saw Mom, Dad, Nancy and Matthew headed to Ft. Wayne, IN. We arrived at the Spiece Fieldhouse for Matt's 8:00 pm team meeting. His first game was Friday evening at 10:30 pm. The first 3 games they played were pool games and determined your seeding in the tournament that started Saturday evening. They were 2 - 1 in the pool play. The tournament began Sat night with a 9:30 pm game. They won and went on to win three more games. They got to the Final Four on Sunday afternoon and lost in the semi-final game by one point. The cool thing this is a 2013 (8th grade) team and they were playing up in the 2012 (9th grade) division. They ended up 4th out of 32 teams. It is a very demanding weekend for the players and Matt was up to the challenge. Matt is an ace at the free throw line.
